in 2012 saw Lawrence brought onto the Irish fly team to design patterns for the Loughs competition on Lough Sheelin.

To say the least it was four hard days designing patterns and field testing these, but the success was to come on the final on the Friday when the Irish team won.

Lawrence has been designing and tying flies for well over 40 years and is an advanced fly dressing instructor, his claim to fame is that his leggy cdc bibio broke the Irish record on Lough Currane for a lough sea trout which weighed at an impressive 13.5lb

Last month saw the  grand opening of his new fly tying studio where he teaches fly dressing three times a week and tutors budding fly dressers up to a level where they can go for their qualification in fly dressing.

His famous wire woven nymphs were tried out 2 years ago when he was invited over to Yellowstone to carry out workshops, on one stretch of the Gallaten river he caught over 80 fish in one morning session moving no more that 20 metres, and his woven wire patterns is being demonstrated by other fly dressers across the states.

His latest pattern is the bloody olive dabbler which was field tested 2 weeks ago on lough Sheelin and accounted to 12 fish to the boat and at least 8 fish lost.

Lawrence will be visiting lough Sheelin this coming week to field test his other patterns before they are added to his web site.

His famous Irish colours he uses to dye his materials has to be seen to believe, and his good friend TV and Radio presenter Mike Harding used his famous Leprechauns pubic hair which has over seven shades of olive to tie up  a green Peter and could not believe how well it worked on lough Corrib.

so keep an eye out fot the next article which will hopefully include a vieo of us field testing patterns on Sheelin
