Current Conditions
The upper Colorado from Pumphouse down to Dotsero is icy in spots but there is now plenty of open water and the fishing is picking up. Try open water around State Bridge and Dotsero where the sun keeps the river free of ice.
More warm weather for the next week with temperatures in the 40's and 50's during the day. This is a great chance to get out and experience some good fishing during a tough time of year! The Lower Colorado will be the place to be for a mid-winter float trip! Midge hatches are becoming thicker each day and the trout are feeding well. Golden stonefly nymphs and BWO nymphs are also very active.

We generally focus our efforts on the Lower Colorado River from Glenwood Springs down to Rifle during the winter. The Lower Colorado River below Glenwood Springs is fishing well and the clarity is good with only a little ice and slush after cold nights. Midges are hatching daily. Nymphing with stoneflies, worms or eggs with a midge emerger trailer has been the hot ticket. Streamers are still moving some large fish.Float fishing offers the best way to cover water on this big river.
Guide Tip: Big rainbows are now pushing into riffles at the head of pools as the day warms up
