It flows west through the Log Koritnica Valley (Loška Koritnica) south of Mount Mangart and then turns south near Log pod Mangartom, flowing past the Kluže Fortress and through the 70-meter deep and 200-meter long Kluže Canyon (korita Kluže), also known as the Koritnica Canyon (korita Koritnice). It empties into the Soča southeast of Bovec. Fly fishing district which is managed by Fisheries Research Institute of Slovenia, stretches from the road bridge Bovec-Trenta to the outflow into the Soča River. Its blue-green pools are home to the indigenous marble trout and grayling. Perfect for a fly fisherman who likes exploring.
We visited this picturesque small Alpine stream in early season with Urko Fishing Adventures guest, Jan. We didn't get marble trout, but Jan got his personal best grayling, which was equally satisfying. After quick photo session Jan made perfect release of his trophy grayling back to the cristal clear stream of the river Koritnica.
