Type of Water: Freshwater
Species: Cutthroat
Slowing down a lot and this was our last day of the season here, we will be back in October. The fish were abundant at south nets along with the crowds. We tried Dago bay with no luck and 40mph winds, buried the transfer case in the sand and had to dig out as the sun rose. Finished just in time to fish with the wind in our face at what seemed like 20 knots. We packed up and moved over to Pelicans to fish our favorite beach and had it all to ourselves again. Only a few ladders in the water. We hooked into another 8 lb fish and a few smaller fish around 25-28". Balanced bait fish Tui Chub pattern (custom tied by Deep Creek Outfitters Terrence Tinucci) on the full sink with a purple and black beetle behind was the winner. Full sink 250 grain line loaded on a 7 wt or 8 wt rod. best advice....get a bigger net and a scale.
