Rio Santa Cruz

From: 03/23/2019
To: 03/29/2019
Type of Water: Freshwater
Species: Steelhead
Week 1 at Los Plateados lodge located 70km upstream Santa Cruz waters from the Ocean gave the first charmers of the season. Two fishermen from Europe landed 7 steelheads being 14 pounds the biggest and 2 nice sea run brown trout of 8 and 12 pounds. These two last are every season more common and bigger size. Weather was really nice and felt more like summer than Autumn with just one day of our typical west wind. The main flies were intruders in blue color and leches in black and blue. All of them articulated with a trailer hook (mosquito owner 1 & 2). T14 was our main option for sinking tips up to 12 feet. The river is in good shape and you can see that fish is moving from pool to pool in a daily basis. visibility is considered good.
