Winsnes Fly Fishing Lodge has been looking after fishermen from overseas since 1882 when the salmon Lords from the UK rented the lodge every summer after its opening. The lodge is a traditional Norwegian farmhouse with a number of outbuildings. An ancient barn has been converted into a pub and fishing tackle outfitter and there is a casting pool on site. The lodge offers full or half board options and has wi-fi, drying room, wader drier etc., the style is clean, rustic and the atmosphere is pure magic!

The lodge offers premium fly fishing on what most people regard as the best fly water on the Gaula. The water is 4km of double bank divided into seven beats. The lodge operates a resting policy for the pools in June and July so that guests fished totally rested water in the morning and evening. Catch and release only.
Unlike most other Gaula beats, we do not allow the water to be over-fished. Our objective is to give less fanatical and experienced fishers the chance to catch fish without having to fish until they drop.
Our emphasis is on atmosphere and experience. We have the best fishing so our guests can afford to relax and enjoy the atmosphere as well as the fishing!
The average size of salmon on Gaula is over 6 kilos. Our average is over 7 and we catch a high proportion of 20 pound View more...plus fish each season. Gaula is renown for producing salmon in the 13 to 20 kilo bracket every season.
Seven single/double occupancy rooms with 5 en-suite bathroom. Large dining room, kitchen, licensed pub, tackle outfitter, wi-fi, tv lounge, flatscreen tv in pub, wader drier etc.,

Fabulous river, fish, scenery and hospitality. Hope the will is there to preserve fish stocks on the Gaula and other magical Norwegian rivers. Looking forward to the next trip.
