The Iguana House is a quintessential Belizean bungalow. Located about 3.5 miles North of town, we are on the beach facing the reef. There are three bedrooms, each with two separate beds to accommodate 6 anglers. We also have two very comfortable fold out couches to increase capacity to 8 anglers.
There is a beautiful wraparound deck to enjoy the ocean breeze and relax! This place was the first house on the entire stretch of beach. It truly is a tropical oasis with privacy and freedom to do as you please.
There is a flat in front of the house, known to locals as Bonefish Flat. Ample fishing opportunities for bonefish, permit, and many other reef species right out the front door! About 10 miles to the North of the house sits Tranquility Bay. All you need is a fishing license and a golf cart to access this truly breathtaking fishery. Sight fish for bones, permit and tarpon from your golf cart! This place was made to do it yourself!
If you’re looking for guiding fishing, we have access to some fantastic local guides who will pick you up from the Iguana House private dock. There are opportunities for flats fishing, reef fishing (if conditions permit) and blue water fishing. The opportunities to cater your trip to exactly what you want are endless here. Our family of five stayed at the Iguana House in May 2021 when the Island was just opening back up. Some of the local stores and beach restaurants were not open at that time but even with that the house and location were amazing.
My son and I salt water fished for the first time and had a blast catching several bone fish both guided from a boat and along the shore. The house has its own dock so we got picked up right at the house.
Finally, we are all SCUBA certified so spent a couple days diving as a family. It was some of the best diving you could imagine. Again, we got picked up at the dock for each of the dive trips.
We are planning another trip in the spring of 2022 and can’t wait to continue to explore the island and spend more time fishing the beautiful waters.

The Iguana House is the perfect spot for the die hard or casual angler. It is also a great place for the non angler to relax and unwind.
On my stay I was picked up at the dock multiple days by excellent local guides, but also caught bonefish at the beach right in front of the house! We also successfully took the golf cart north up the beach for some breathtaking do it yourself fishing.
I landed bonefish, permit, and hooked numerous tarpon.
The house is very comfortable and spacious, with all the amenities needed to feel at home. There is a small grocer within walking distance, and numerous dining within a short cart ride. I loved having coffee on the patio and looking out to the reef.
I can’t wait to bring my whole family down next year to relax, fish, swim, and visit the Mayan ruins. The Iguana House is a special place. It will not disappoint!
