The Madison River is often considered the greatest trout river in the world and we have over 140 miles of blue ribbon wild trout waters at our fingertips.

From its headwaters in Yellowstone National Park to its confluence with the Missouri, the mighty Madison River has something for everyone. The section nicknamed the 50 mile riffle holds outstanding trout with statistics such as 1,000 trout per mile over 10 inches long. Anglers of all skill levels find success in the swift moving water of this section. As the river approaches the quintessential fly fishing town of Ennis, deeper formed channels provide great opportunities to stalk spookier trout in slower moving water. Aptly named the “Channels” section, the Madison Valley Ranch sits on the banks of this pristine stretch.

The Madison River offers exceptional fishing in a spectacular setting. And fly fisherman have a plethora of opportunities to strategically approach the river with either dry flies, nymphs, or streamers. All types and levels of fisherman can enjoy success on the Madison catching wild rainbows, cutthroats, browns, and even our native Montana whitefish.

Outside each room’s front porch offers a countryside view of the surrounding three mountain ranges, the ever-changing Montana Big Sky, and the resident wildlife in the fields. While each room changes slightly in size and bed configurations, the warm western touches are consistent in all.
